Pottal International Islamic School

About us

Pottal International Islamic School derives its name from the Fulani word ‘POTTAL’ which means Unity. The School started as a small initiative on October 2, 2013 by a group of visionary Fulani business people in the Redlight Market belt who believed in the power of education to transform society. They aimed to create an institution that would provide a holistic education, focusing not only on providing quality Islamic education to their children but also on character development, which the Fulani community was lacking at that time.

The School started as a small afternoon Islamic Study-class establishment with only 40 students: 23 boys, 17 girls with Alhaji Amadou Oury Bah, who is the current School Principal serving as the only teacher. it operated out of a wooden shack located above the business stores of Alhaji Meekah Bah, May Allah have mercy on him, on the Pipe Line Road.

A philanthropist, in the person of Alhaji Abubakar Jalloh, offered to host the school for free in his uncompleted store buildings at Lofa Field, Red-light while the founders were considering ways to repair the damaged wooden shack school. The relocation of the school to the Lofa Field community In Red-Light marked a significant milestone. The school grew both in size and reputation, which prompted the philanthropist, Alhaji Abubakar Jalloh to construct an apartment o n the first floor of the building above the stores and donate it to the school. The apartment contained 12 rooms, 10 bathrooms, a security office and a store room. The donation was formalized through a notarized Memorandum of Understanding signed between the donor and representatives of the school on July 1, 2016.

By September 2016, our school had grown into a well -respected educational institution and was formally registered with the Ministry of Education on September 30, 2016 with a population of 574 students. The school operated on three sessions:
